YOUR INFORMATION
Privacy, in plain language.
HomeFix.Services is an independent home-repair publication. This page explains how information is used when you read the site, join the local-offers list, or follow a contact link in an advertisement.
When you sign up for local offers
We save your email address, five-digit ZIP code, and selected service interest. We also record when you consented, the wording and version of the consent, the page path where you signed up, and whether your subscription is active or unsubscribed. Query strings and fragments are removed from the saved page path.
These details help us organize offers for readers who have asked to receive them. Joining the list does not request a repair quote or send your details to an advertised provider. We do not automatically share the subscription list with handymen, electricians, plumbers, or other providers.
Signups are currently being collected. Automated offer and verification emails are not being sent yet, and an address entered in the form has not been verified as belonging to the person who submitted it. Offers may be emailed when they are available; signing up does not guarantee an offer or a particular provider’s availability.
Where signup information is kept
Signup records are stored in our site database on a self-hosted server, with access restricted to authorized administrators. The public website does not provide access to the subscriber list.
To limit automated abuse, the signup and unsubscribe endpoints use short-lived request counters linked to a keyed hash of the connecting IP address. The counters do not store the raw IP address. Hosting and security logs may separately contain technical request information.
Unsubscribe from local offers
You can use the unsubscribe form to opt out by email address. No account or login is required. The confirmation is deliberately the same whether or not an address is on the list.
Unsubscribing marks an existing record as unsubscribed and records the time. We keep that record to respect the opt-out; entering the same address in the signup form again does not automatically reactivate it. This does not delete messages you have separately sent to a service provider.
When you call or text an advertised provider
Call and text links open your device’s phone or messaging app. Your call, message, phone number, and any project photos you send go to the provider using the displayed number. The About page explains the publisher’s relationship with the local repair advertiser.
Share only what is needed to discuss your project. Avoid sending financial account information, identification documents, or other sensitive personal details in project photos and messages. For questions about correcting or deleting information sent directly to a provider, contact that recipient.
Website measurement and delivery
We use self-hosted website analytics to understand which pages are useful and whether visitors click call or text links. These events describe the click; they do not contain the content of a call, text, or project photo. Our analytics configuration excludes URL query strings and fragments and respects a browser’s Do Not Track preference.
The website and hosting infrastructure may process technical request information, including an IP address, browser information, and time of access, to deliver and protect the service. This website does not use advertising pixels or sell visitor information.
Illustrative photographs are loaded from image providers such as Unsplash, which receive the network requests needed to display those images. Your browser, phone carrier, messaging service, and external websites have their own privacy practices. Standard calling or messaging charges may apply through your carrier.
Updates
We may update this page when the website’s signup, contact, or measurement features change. Review it before sharing information through a new feature.
